English, a language spoken in many parts of the world and useful for communicating with foreigners from all over the world, is taught in 4 lessons per week. We start our term by getting to know each other and finding out about each other’s expectations.
We begin with basic learning tools
An introductory unit will introduce you to strategies that may be helpful during the year.
We focus on the examination
Around the autumn holidays we start to work on the examination topic, which covers different areas and looks at different aspects of a topic. It varies from year to year and is the same for all FOS/BOS classes in Hamburg. Topics have included climate change, the world of work, digitalisation, etc..
Communication skills are important
Communicating with each other in English is an important activity to get used to. Different methods and activities will challenge you to use English in class. Fun, respect, and success are key values in the English lessons at the BS 29.
We look forward to meeting you,
Elisabeth Balke, Corinna Schilowsky, Sandra Wingerath
And a students’ view…
Hello future Fachoberschüler,
We are Jasmin, Matthias and Lena and we will graduate from here in 2023. What we like about the English classes is that everyone can participate with different levels of previous knowledge. Together we learn the English language through different active methods, so that we are able to advance to the next level.
In class we do group discussions and presentations, but we also work on reading, writing and listening comprehension tasks. We benefit from a native English speaker, an English Language Assistant who participates in our English classes. This is great.
